amidst all the excitement i felt bittersweet disappointment in seeing proposition 8 pass in california, usually at the us’ bleeding edge of cultural progression. arizona, south dakota, florida and arkansas all saw ballot set-backs for gay rights but it was california – usually an early indicator of where the us and the world is heading socially- that disappointed.

still, i am hopeful that it’s just a matter of time until california and (probably more a matter of decades later) the us followed by the rest of the world stop discrinimating based on sexuality.
