thanks to ciff08 i am re-excited for palestinian film and debating whether to catch najwa najjar’s pomegranates and myrrh at diff. my research has brought up some great vids, first a piece from the fabulous picture show:

and then an ahdaf soueif hosted panel with najwa and sameh zoabi from the 2007 palestinian film festival:
there is a powerful moment at the 39 minute mark when question from the audience proves almost too much for the directors. it is finally and painfully answered by sameh and then near the end najwa too.
