rashid khalidi, the edward said professor of arab studies at columbia university in new york was a recent guest on christopher lydon’s open source podcast.

rashid referred to the arab middle east as a black hole (in reference to the absent respect for rule of law and conspicuous lack of democratization) and spoke convincingly of the need for non-violent means of palestinian resistance. worth a listen.
